Planning a wedding is exciting for everyone involved. The Bride has to find the proper wedding dress for her size and figure and also chooses the gowns for her Bridesmaids. Everyone will use the telephone to call friends and family making plans.

Being chosen to be a bridesmaid is an honour bestowed on each one, and has important obligations to go with the title.  It is important to take note of the following steps:

1. Think about all the things that you feel might go wrong now! Do you think you might gain weight after your gown is selected and that it will not fit you? Are you nervous because you fear that your shoes will be too tight and hurt while you stand at the altar, or walk down the aisle?. Choose the best diet for you and stay on it after the gown is bought, and wear shoes that you know will not hurt.

2. Get excited at helping to choose the color and/or style of your gown. Generally, all the bridesmaids have to wear the same dress, or at least the same color, so don’t expect the selection to be an easy one. Every girl thinks they look better in a different dress, so anticipate some fun disputes over making the choice.

3. Check out various hairstyles ahead of time. Play around with different shades of eye shadow. Find the color that makes your eyes stand out. Look forward to looking your best, and be excited at sharing such a special day with your friends.

4. Start making the bride a special wedding gift. Make a wedding scrapbook for her, filled with pictures taken with all of you prior to the wedding. Make sure you have pictures of you all trying on shoes, and different hairstyles. She will look back at all the excitement she shared with all her friends who helped plan the wedding.

5. Also remember, if you’re nervous or you find a flaw in your appearance, don’t worry! The audience will be more focused on the couple, not you.

Remember, it is up to the bride to select the gowns her bridesmaids wear, so even if you dislike the dress, once she makes her decision go along with it.

6. If you are not comfortable with the high-heels you are wearing because you don’t know how to walk in them, learn! You don’t want to fall all the big day and hurt yourself!

Yeah, pretty difficult task to be a bridesmaid, but ofcourse full of fun, not everyone get to be a bridesmaid. ☺

Wedding colour and themes are as old as time, the trend continues today, seeing couples and wedding planners build themes around certain colour groups certainly is not uncommon. The right colour combination is certainly a personal choice that sets the tone and vibe of your ceremony.

We have gathered an assortment of color hues from the lightest to the darkest shades and their meanings, to give you.

Indulgent shades of pink…(The Pink Family)

Soft Pink, Dusty Pink & Blush: This shade represents spirited romance, often associated with fresh love and all things beautiful

Fuchsia & Magenta: This shade is a strong contemporary representation of feminine energy.

Coral & Dusty Rose: This shade represents vivacity. It works well with many shades, including blue, brown& gold

Ivory & Champagne: This shade represents refined elegance and charm. Ivory is a great alternative to white and works well with every colour.

White:  This shade is represents innocence, purity and fertility. White is timeless and also works well with most colors.

Aquamarine: This shade represents bloom and effervescent. Aqua marine goes well with hot pink/fuchsia/magenta.

Navy Blue: This shade represents masculinity. Navy is the impeccable colour to integrate into a nautical theme. This ultra-preppy colour is a great alternative to black.

Ocean an inspired shades of blue….

Sky Blue: This shade represents trust and faithfulness. This colour fosters a relaxed and productive ambence.

Turquoise: This shade represents peace, tranquil and healing. Lighter shades of turquoise have a feminine appeal and foster vigor and happiness. Blends nicely with silver.

Sage, Olive & Green: These shades represents growth and new life. They remind us of nature, these hues can be paired with both bright and subdued colours.

Lime & Mint: These hues are calming and rich. It relieves stress and creates a tranquil atmosphere.

Peach: This shade represents charm and finesse; it’s also soft and very feminine. Lovely with navy blue and crisp white

Orange & Burnt orange: This shade represents harvest. Orange looks fantastic with brown or copper

Colour Inspiration ( Purple, Lilac, and Champagne Gold) 

Purple and Lilac pair excellently together like a fine wine and cheese, while champagne gold is a perfect neutral metallic shade for that added that luxurious glow. 

Purple represents royalty, wealth prosperity and influence. 

Lilac represents delicate femininity. 

Gold arouses feelings of luxury, taste, warmth and culture.

Lavender: This shade represents delicate femininity. Best incorporated in garden settings.

Raspberry & Mauve: This shade represents novelty and royalty. This particular shade is stylishly-chic, mainly when paired with other complex shades.

Purple & Plum: This shade represents wealth prosperity and influence. It is urbane and extravagant.

Sunny Yellow with Rays of Gold

Yellow: This shade represent positivity and assurance. Yellow is 100% exciting. The possibilities to be explored with this colour are limitless

Gold, Antique Gold and Mustard: These shades arouse feelings of luxury, taste, warmth and culture. It can be blended with almost every colour.

Cranberry Red: This shade represents passion and love. This exciting hue can be used to create numerous look. Red looks gorgeous with champagne, greys and greens.

Burgundy: This shade represents courage, strength and, action. It’s darker hue is better suited to lighter colour combinations .

Neutral tones inspired by love….

Black: Yes black. This shade represents power and elegance. This is definitely one for a daring couple and it works well with every colour.

Silver: This shade represents rich history, it is also very up scale and elegant. It flirts with almost every colour.

A bridal shower is one of those parties that are fun and practical at the same time. The obvious reason for a shower is to give things to the future married couple that will help them establish a home together. But the underlying reason for a bridal shower is that it’s a nice occasion for the close family and friends of the bride to spend relaxed time with her before the big wedding day. 

The bride is the princess of the day, so be sure that in your planning you don’t do anything that will make her feel uncomfortable.

A bridal shower is commonly hosted by the maid-of-honor and bridesmaids. Although it was once considered poor etiquette for family members of the bride to host the shower, it is now acceptable. Here are some other considerations as you plan a shower:

* The event is usually held within two months of the wedding, up to two weeks before the big day.

* Don’t invite guests to the shower who have not been invited to the wedding.

* These days you’ll need to decide whether this will be a traditional ‘girls only’ event or a couples party, often referred to as a “Jack and Jill” shower.

* Any time of day is acceptable, but most often showers are afternoon events.

* Decide whether the party will be held at a Home,Hotel ,Restaurant or other locale. These days many shower planners now choose activities instead of the traditional finger food/gift opening shower. For example, many bridal parties take the bride out for a day at the spa ,shopping instead of a shower. Or for an active Jack and Jill shower, the party could be a beach Barbeque shower. 

* Finally, unless you feel it’s mandatory to surprise the bride, involve her in the planning. Ask her if there’s a particular theme she’d like for her shower. Some popular themes include lingerie showers, kitchen item showers, around-the-clock showers (where everyone is assigned a time of day for which to select a gift for the Bride.

* Gifts should be opened when after Meal etc, toward the end of the shower, The gift opening is the highlight of the event, so you don’t want guests filling their plates at the food table or the host opening the door to greet guests while it’s going on.
